Release on Own Recognizance
A release on own recognizance or “ROR” is a rare but sometimes used in a criminal trial and requires special qualifications to receive. Typically these types of bonds will be recommended by a law enforcement agency for community members with a high standing. This type of bond is to be applied to high profile community members who pose no fligh risk and currently hold down a good job and have a family. This will typically be used for any official law enforcement agent or city, county or state political figures.
As this bond type is not frequently used and cannot be requested by a defendant this service cannot be offered through a bail bondsmen. Instead the use of this service would be up to the discretion of the judge presiding over the trial in conjunction with the defense attorneys. We still, however, feel this is a valuable piece of information for those that are eligible to be aware of.
